#465 SCREW CAPS

DESCRIPTION:  #465 SCREW-CAPS are 1 1/2" round die cut pieces of POL-E-BASE to be used as a seal over screws that secure metal roof and side wall panels.

ADVANTAGES:  #465 SCREW-CAPS are a simpler way to achieve excellent sealing quality on roof fasteners.  They assure an even and complete cover over the screws.  You may apply elastomeric coatings over the SCREW-CAPS immediately.  If you use caulking, you must wait until it is cured before applying coating.

Cold weather applications are possible with the use of an electric heat gun.

APPLICATION:  Tighten or replace fasteners.  Clean surrounding area thoroughly.  Remove paper backing from the SCREW-CAP and center over the fastener.  Place SCREW-CAP on fastener and form tightly around the fastener with thumb and forefinger.  (Handmade tools are an option for application.)  Coat with #1300T Reflective White Plastic or #1300 Gray White Plastic, or with an alternative coating.

NOTE:  POL-E-BASE or SCREW-CAPS are not intended to be a wearing surface and must be coated after application.

#1300T REFLECTIVE WHITE ELASTOMERIC COATING
DESCRIPTION:  #1300T WHITE PLASTIC is an elastomeric acrylic reflective white emulsion formulated to cure to a flexible, waterproof membrane.  The cured product has excellent tensile, elongation, flexibility and recovery properties.  WHITE PLASTIC products for roofing and waterproofing are time tested since 1975.

ADVANTAGES:  #1300T cures dry and does not soften with the heat of the sun and does not become brittle.  The elastomeric properties provide elongation to move with the expansion and contraction of the roof surface.

SURFACE PREPARATION:  The surface must be dry, sound, smooth and clean.  It must be free of dirt, oil, grease, asphalt and is not cured dry or any contaminant that would adversely affect adhesion.   The roof surface must be properly sloped to drains, with no ponding water.

Do not apply over asphalt-based aluminum coating, silicone coatings, or rusty metal without priming.

APPLICATION:  #1300T WHITE PLASTIC is applied at the rate of 100 sq.ft./gal. for each coat.  When applied over POL-E-BASE, the first coat is applied at 80 sq.ft./gal.  Application is with nylon paint brush, paint roller, or with commercial heavy duty airless spray.  Two coats are recommended.  Do not thin this product.

PRECAUTIONS:  Temperature and humidity affect the curing time.  Do not apply at temperature below 50° F, or if the temperature will fall below 40° F within 24 hours.  Do not apply if it will rain within 24 hours.  Protect the contents of the container from freezing.

CLEAN-UP:  Tools and equipment may be cleaned with water immediately after use.

#1300 GRAY WHITE PLASTIC ELASTOMERIC COATING is very similar to the #1300T and is applied the same way.  The cured gray color blends with weathered galvanized metal roofing.
